Man arrested in Belgium over Hartlepool shooting

A 32-year-old man wanted in connection with the murder of a father lured to a house and shot through the head has been arrested in Belgium.

Hemawand Ali Hussein was found dead in Hartlepool in September 2019.

One man has already been convicted of Mr Hussein's murder, and three others have been jailed for his manslaughter.

Following the latest arrest, Cleveland Police said they are still seeking two men linked to the killing.

Mr Hussein - known as Hammo - was killed with a sawn-off shotgun at point-blank range after arriving at a house in Charterhouse Street for what he thought was a meeting with drug dealers.

Mr Hussein鈥檚 partner, Jennifer Buller, has previously said that his murder 鈥渃rushed and devastated鈥 her and his two sons.

The latest person arrested on suspicion of Mr Hussein's murder was apprehended in Belgium, following a collaboration between Cleveland Police, international partners and the National Crime Agency.

Two more men are still being sought in connection to the killing, Cleveland Police said.
