A woman has died after a two-car crash on the A30 in Cornwall, police have said.

The crash between a white Kia and a white VW Golf happened at the junction with Plusha services, near Launceston, at about 12:40 BST on Sunday, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

The force said the driver of the Kia, a woman in her 70s, died as a result of the crash.

It said the driver of the Golf was treated in hospital for injuries that were not life-changing.

Police closed the west-bound carriageway of the A30 until about 22:55 while a crash investigation was carried out.

Officers thanked the members of public who stopped to help at the scene.
