Humberside Police has launched an online portal where victims of crime can track stages of the investigation.
The force is piloting My Police Portal - a system which allows victims of crimes such as burglary, assault, robbery and wildlife to stay up to date with their case.
Victims will also be able to interact with officers after they have reported a crime to the police.
Assistant Chief Officer Chris Philpott said the project is still in it's development stage but he has "no doubt it will have a huge impact".
ACO Philpott said: 鈥淭he launch of My Police Portal has been a fantastic opportunity to further transform the way we communicate with members of our community."
To be eligible to sign up, users will need a valid mobile phone number and email address and be aged over 16.
Once a crime has been reported, users will receive a text message and an email with more details on how to sign up to get updates.
