People were warned to stay indoors after a "chemical incident" in Halifax earlier.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to Quarry Court shortly after 11:00 GMT.

They said a "gas cloud" had formed due to chemicals mixing. They advised anyone living or working nearby to keep doors and windows closed.

At 15:30 BST the fire service confirmed that the chemicals had "stopped reacting" and that the incident had been resolved.

The fire service said in a statement: "The chemical has stopped reacting and we have handed the scene back to the responsible persons. People are free to leave their properties. We'd like to thank everyone for their cooperation while this incident was resolved."
