Man in critical condition after assault on bus

A 40-year-old man is in a critical condition after being assaulted on a bus in Brixton, south London.

The Met Police said the man was taken to hospital after the attack on the route 59 bus on Brixton Road at about 10:20 GMT on Thursday.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held in police custody. Detectives, who say the incident involved two men, do not think any weapons were used.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or footage of the assault to come forward.
