Fire engulfs car service centre on industrial estate

Fire crews are tackling a blaze in a car service centre in West Lothian which has led to the collapse of an industrial unit.

A well-developed fire in a commercial building on the Houston Industrial Estate in Livingston was reported shortly after 11:30.

Police Scotland said road closures had been in place since about 11:50 and motorists had been asked to avoid the area.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said the property on Grange Road was evacuated and there were no reported casualties.

"Operations Control mobilised six fire engines and a high reach appliance to the scene," the fire service said in a statement.

"Crews remain in attendance at the scene."

Residents in the area have been asked to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution due to smoke.
