Man to face murder trial over fatal stabbing

A man will face a murder trial following the fatal stabbing of a 35-year-old father.
Greg Marshall died in hospital after being injured at a house in the Roche Avenue/Bellfarm Avenue area of York on Saturday.
Ian Franklin, 33, of no fixed abode, appeared at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday after being charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.
A trial date was set for 10 February 2025 and his defence counsel indicated that he would plead not guilty.
A second man, Jason Rhodes, 33, of Union Terrace, York, also appeared at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday.
He had previously given no indication of his pleas to charges of affray and possession of a bladed article in connection with the incident at York Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
Both Mr Franklin and Mr Rhodes have been remanded in custody until a pre-trial preparation hearing on 17 September.
A third man, aged 29, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of an offensive weapon and has been recalled to prison.
Mr Marshall's family said in a tribute that he was a "beloved son, father, husband, brother, uncle and loyal friend to many far and wide".
They added: "Our hearts are broken and we ask that you please respect our privacy while we process this tragedy."
