Residents told to shut windows as huge fire rages
- Published
Residents have been told to keep their windows and doors shut after a huge blaze broke out at an industrial estate.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a waste fire on Wilson Road, Huyton at around 19:34 BST.
On arrival, crews discovered a large pile of household waste on fire, that then spread to a nearby single storey warehouse.
At least 10 fire engines and two aerial appliances were tackling the blaze.
Mersey Fire said that due to a "visibly large smoke plume", residents and businesses in the area should keep doors and windows closed.
It added that people with existing health conditions should "keep medicines close and if any ill effects are experienced, dial NHS 111 for advice".
