E-bikes are having a "positive impact" on officers' ability to tackle crime in Exeter, the police force says.

Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) have been given the equipment to get around their patch.

Insp Dave Turner, from Devon and Cornwall Police, said the e-bikes helped officers get into areas that other vehicles cannot access.

The force said they had also been useful in tracing people during police searches and in tackling car crime.

Insp Turner said there were many benefits to officers using e-bikes and they were having a "positive impact".

"Bikes can sometimes get into areas that police vehicles could not so it gives us greater access.

"We can also use the bikes to get to incidents faster than officers on a foot patrol."
