A man has been left in a critical condition after being attacked at a pub, police have said.
Cleveland Police received reports of an assault at the Jack and Jill pub in Crossfell Road, Middlesbrough, on Saturday at about 18:00 BST.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and he remains in police custody for questioning.
Officers are urging any witnesses to come forward.
Cleveland Police said the force would "like to reassure the local community that there is not believed to be any risk to the wider public".
