A Metropolitan Police officer has had charges of sexual assault of a child dismissed.

Jamie Howlett, 33, formerly of Horley, was charged with six counts of sexual assault by touching of a child under 13 in July.

Surrey Police said the charges, which were related to two alleged victims, were dismissed due to no evidence being offered.

He was also charged with nine offences, all against an alleged third adult victim.

They were five offences of rape, one charge of controlling and coercive behaviour, one charge of sexual assault by touching, one charge of sexual assault by penetration and one charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

His trial is due to be held in May 2025.

The officer has pleaded not guilty to all nine charges.
