Procedures at a primary school in Immingham are being reviewed after a pupil had a pocket knife confiscated.

Officials said the incident took place at Eastfield Primary Academy last Tuesday.

Parents had raised concerns on social media about an attack, but both police and the school said no-one was harmed.

The incident was "quickly dealt with by staff", school leaders said.

The school is part of the Enquire Learning Trust.

In a statement, chief executive Darren Holmes said: "While no-one was harmed in this isolated incident, the academy and trust have initiated a review of procedures.

"Eastfield Academy and the Enquire Learning Trust have very robust and effective safeguarding procedures in place, and the safety of children, staff and families is our highest priority."

Humberside Police also confirmed the details, adding that the pocket knife had been quickly confiscated by teachers.

A force spokesperson said officers from the neighbourhood policing team were working closely with the school.
