Outdoor market to move in town centre revamp
- Published
A Nottinghamshire town's outdoor market has been moved as part of major works aiming to improve public spaces.
Sutton-in-Ashfield’s market had traded from Portland Square but this would now get a facelift featuring raised planters, trees, seating and grassed areas.
After an interim period on Low Street, the market will be relocated to Fox Street, where a previously derelict site is being turned into a car park and events area.
The work, funded as part of Ashfield District Council £62.6m Towns Deal, is expected to be completed early next year.
Work in Portland Square, which starts on Monday, will also see new paving to improve access and ambient lighting.
