R锘縠scue teams in distress beacon alert stood down

R锘縠scue teams have been stood down following searches in the sea off Lewis for the source of an activated distress beacon.

T锘縣e alarm was raised early on Thursday morning.

T锘縣e coastguard said thorough searches were made but nothing was found.

S锘縯ornoway RNLI lifeboat and coastguard aircraft were involved in the search effort north west of the Butt of Lewis.
