Man charged after cocaine worth 拢1.8m seized in van

A man has been charged after police recovered suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of 拢1.8m in Omagh, County Tyrone.

Detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force (PCTF) found the drugs when they searched a van in the Doogary Road area on Thursday morning.

The PCTF are investigating suspected criminal activity linked to the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA).

A 38-year-old man was charged with possession of Class A controlled drugs with intent to supply, and importing a controlled drug.

"We are committed to protecting our communities by removing dangerous drugs from our streets," Det Insp Pyper said.

He added that the police are committed to tackling "all types of organised criminality linked to paramilitaries".

The man is due to appear before Dungannon Magistrates on Saturday.
