Two teens arrested after 12-year-old girl stabbed
Two teenage boys have been arrested following a serious assault on a 12-year-old girl.
Officers were called to a report of an assault near the Harbour Road car park, Barry Island at about 17:00 GMT on Sunday.
A 12-year-old girl was taken to University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff with serious injuries, but her condition is described as not life-threatening.
South Wales Police said an investigation is ongoing and they are treating the incident as a stabbing.
The 13-year-old boy and 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
The 13-year-old has also been arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article. The two boys remain in police custody.
Det Insp Phil Marchant, from South Wales Police, said the incident and ages of those involved "will cause worry within the community".
He added the two suspects, who the victim knows, were arrested within an hour and police are not looking for anyone else.
