Two people have been taken to hospital for treatment after a stabbing in Salford, police have said.

Officers were called to reports of a stabbing at about 14:30 BST on Hawk Road, Irlam, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

Four males aged between 14 and 37, including one person who was armed, were arrested, the force said.

GMP said two people remained in custody for questioning while two others were receiving treatment at hospital. It added the extent of their injuries was not known at this stage.

Police said it did not believe there was a wider threat to the public and no other suspects were being sought.

GMP appealed for anyone with information to contact the force.
