An arm injury has thwarted a man's attempt to set a giant tyre-flipping world record.

Will Fraser-Coombe, 28, wanted to take on the endurance challenge with a 100kg (15st 10lb) tyre to raise money for bigmoose, a mental health charity.

"It was the hardest thing I ever attempted," said Will, from Pontyclun, Rhondda Cynon Taf.

He suffered a suspected torn bicep in the early hours of Sunday after completing six miles (10km) of tyre-flipping.

The record is 11km in 24 hours but Will aimed to spend the weekend flipping the tyre over 26 miles (42km), with only 20 minute breaks.

Will had tried to take a "quick nap" after the injury but the challenge had to be halted when he realised he was unable to continue.

"I've done some pretty hard things before, but the use of your whole body was just exhausing," he said.

"I felt devastated having to stop."

He paid tribute to his support crew including his parents, partner, and other gym goers who cheered him on along his route on a path at the back of Snap Fitness in Pontyclun.

"I've got plenty of challenges in my mind but this is one I am going to re-visit at some point," Will added.
