A house and a vehicle were damaged during a shooting which prompted a large police response on Wednesday.

Armed officers, along with police aircraft, were dispatched to Ingram Crescent, Dunscroft, Doncaster, at about 19:00 BST.

A search of the area took place but no firearm was found, South Yorkshire Police said.

Nobody was injured and there would be a large police presence in the area while officers investigated, a spokesperson for the force added.

Det Insp Claire Moss said it was a "reckless incident" which was carried out by people who then fled the scene.

"This has rightly caused some concern and worry in the local community. Residents were just going about their usual business when they heard this awful incident occur."

She said anyone with any concerns or questions should speak with officers in the area.
