Up to 拢7,500 is being offered to provide more warm spaces in Hull.

Affordable Warmth grants are being given to community organisations and can also be used to support people living in the city to "cope with the cost of living", Hull City Council said.

The organisations are being encouraged to offer warm spaces at evenings, weekends and other out-of-hour periods.

The scheme is being funded by the Department of Work and Pensions and a local heating company.

Jackie Dad, deputy leader of the council, said: 鈥淲e realise it will be another tough winter for some people, and we want to do what we can to make things a bit easier.

"There are a good number of organisations that are already doing great work that could benefit from this money."
