A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Stoke-on-Trent.
Police were called to an address on Sefton Avenue, Sneyd Green, at 21:30 GMT on Monday following reports of a sudden death.
A woman in her 60s was pronounced dead at the scene, Staffordshire Police confirmed.
Officers have arrested a 53-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent, who remains in custody.
Police said it was being treated as an isolated incident and there was no threat to the wider public.
A referral has also been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) because of recent police contact with the woman.
