A second man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Glasgow woman Sandie Butler.

The 40-year-old man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

Ms Butler was found seriously injured on St Mungo Avenue in the Townhead area of the city on 29 October and died a short time later.

James McCrindle, 53, appeared in court on Monday accused of assaulting and killing Ms Butler and was alleged to have "struck her to the body with a knife or similar implement".

Mr McCrindle made no plea to the murder charge during the private hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in court again within eight days.
