A man has died in a two-car crash in Leicestershire that left a road closed for about six hours.

The crash - involving a blue Citroen C4 Picasso and a purple Citroen C3 Picasso - happened at about 22:35 BST on Friday, close to where the A52 meets Grantham Road in Bottesford.

The driver of the purple car was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he remains in a stable condition.

Leicestershire Police has appealed for witnesses and to those who may have dashcam footage relevant to the inquiry.
