A member of the public has found what is believed to be the body of a missing man in the river at a North Yorkshire beauty spot.

Police said the body, believed to be Anthony Smith, had been discovered in the River Wharfe at Bolton Abbey.

Mr Smith, 44, from Essex, had not been seen since he left the Red Lion in Burnsall at 04:30 BST on Friday.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said there were no suspicious circumstances and Mr Smith's family had been informed.
