Three men who posed as police officers and gave a woman a lift home in a car reported to have a siren and flashing lights are being sought by police.

The suspects approached the woman in Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, at 03:30 GMT on 30 November.

Dorset Police said the woman reported one of the men showed her a false warrant card before they gave her a lift.

Police said the woman, who was not harmed, travelled in the silver Volvo with the three men before she was dropped off.

The car was driven away from the Glen Fern Road car park, travelling on Boundary Road and Columbia Road.

PC Jordan Skinner, of Bournemouth police, said: "This was a very uncomfortable experience for the woman involved, who placed her trust in three men who did not turn out to be who they claimed to be.

"It is fortunate that the victim did not come to any harm. Impersonating a police officer is a very serious offence, which ultimately undermines and erodes the public's confidence in policing."

The force has urged anyone who recognises the three men or the vehicle shown in CCTV images to come forward.

It has also appealed for witnesses who were in the area at the time or anyone with dashcam or doorbell footage to also contact the force.
