Investigation after 'human remains' found near beach
Police are investigating reports "suspected human remains" have been found on a path overlooking a beach.
Northumbria Police were called to Marine Walk in Roker, Sunderland, shortly after 10:00 GMT on Tuesday, officers said.
Police said inquiries were ongoing and an investigation had been launched into the discovery.
Searches in the area will continue on Thursday, police said.
Anyone with concerns are being advised to speak to an officer on duty, or contact Northumbria Police via their website or 101.
