A village is to get up to 90 more homes after councillors voted to give outline planning permission.

Boningale Homes applied for permission to build on land off Shaw Lane in Albrighton, between Wolverhampton and Shifnal, as the final phase of its Millfields development.

Shropshire Council's southern planning committee said it wanted concerns about community facilities and car parking addressed when full plans are submitted.

Albrighton councillor Nigel Lumby told the meeting facilities promised at earlier phases of the housing development had not materialised.

Mr Lumby said: “This is my community's last chance to get amenities they believe they were promised in the local plan."

“A doctors surgery in phase one and two? It never happened. A car park in phase four? Not happening. Adult football pitch? Not happening. Sports hall? Not happening. Albrighton is feeling let down.”

Doug Moulton, representing the scheme’s planning agent Enzygo, said leisure facilities could be created with money it pays Shropshire Council through an agreed Community Infrastructure Levy.

He also said 15% of that £500,000 would go to the parish council.

Mr Moulton also accepted parking was a “key issue” for Albrighton residents.
