A police officer has appeared in court charged with misconduct in a public office.
Det Con Wasim Bashir, who works for West Yorkshire Police, is alleged to have contacted vulnerable victims of serious sexual offences or domestic abuse during the course of his duties, without any identified policing purpose.
The 54-year-old, of Ploughmans Croft, Bradford, is also alleged to have abused his position by beginning a sexual relationship with one of the victims.
Magistrates in Hull bailed Mr Bashir to appear at Leeds Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 30 July.
Hull Magistrates Court was told the offences were alleged to have taken place between 1 August 2019 and 5 January 2022.
West Yorkshire Police said the officer had been suspended from duty since his arrest following an investigation by the force's Counter Corruption Unit.
