Man dies following disturbance in Ardrossan

Police are investigating the death of a man at a block of flats in North Ayrshire.

Officers were called to reports of a disturbance in the Montgomerie Street area of Ardrossan at about 20:30 on Tuesday. A 59-year-old man was discovered in a flat and pronounced dead at the scene.

A 24-year-old woman was also found with injuries outside the building and was taken to the Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.

Police Scotland said a 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
