A man has been arrested after several people's handbags were stolen by a cyclist riding around Plymouth city centre.
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were "deployed into the city, both on foot and in vehicles, to identify and arrest the man, keeping people safe from becoming victims".
Patrol Insp John Henley said: "These types of incidents are rare in Plymouth, the city is a safe place to work, live and shop. However, when a crime like this does happen our response is robust and effective."
Officers said the handbags were recovered and returned to their owners.
