The 26-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries when a grey VW Polo, a white VW Polo and a grey Fiat 500 were involved in the crash on Rotherham Road, Monk Bretton, at about 18:00 BST on Sunday.
A 23-year-old woman also suffered serious injuries, while a 27-year-old woman had injuries not thought to be life-threatening, and both had since been released from hospital, police said.
