A teenage boy and a woman have been arrested after shop workers were allegedly assaulted.
Northumbria Police received reports of a disturbance at Morrisons on Durham Road in Birtley, Gateshead, at about 19.15 GMT on Monday.
It was reported that three people had been involved in a verbal disagreement with shop staff, before violence broke out and the staff were allegedly assaulted.
One man was taken to hospital for treatment after being checked over by paramedics at the scene.
The North East Ambulance Service sent one ambulance crew, a clinical team leader, and three crews from their Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).
The 14-year-old boy and the woman, 24, remain in custody.
A Morrisons spokesperson said the incident was "isolated" and added they were assisting the police with their inquiries.
