A man has been charged with driving offences after a 73-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Worcestershire.

The woman was crossing Bridge Street, in Evesham, when she was struck by a vehicle just after 11:00 GMT on 21 March.

Marius Barci, of no fixed address, was charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at a road traffic collision, West Mercia Police said.

The 21-year-old was also charged with failing to report a road traffic collision, driving without insurance, driving without a licence and possession of cocaine.

Mr Barci was scheduled to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Two other men arrested in connection with the incident have been released on police bail.

Police said on Friday the victim remained in a critical condition in hospital.
