Four people in hospital after flat fire in Uddingston
Four people are in hospital after a fire at a flat in South Lanarkshire.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at Deanbrae Street, Uddingston, at about 08:50. Fire crews evacuated 22 people from neighbouring flats.
Four were taken to University Hospital Monklands, with two treated as a precaution for smoke-related injuries.
Deanbrae Street remains closed at its junctions with Crofthead Street and Watson Street, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews extinguished a fire affecting a property on the second floor of a two-storey tenement building.
They said firefighters were still at the scene to "dampen down any remaining hotspots".
