Two men are being hunted by police after a man was mugged as he walked along a popular riverside fairy trail.

The victim, a man in his 20s, suffered minor injuries during the attempted robbery on the Foss Fairy Trail in York on Wednesday 19 June.

An 18-year-old local man was arrested and released on bail, but officers are now trying to trace two suspects, North Yorkshire Police said.

They are described as an Asian male who was about 5ft 2in tall and wearing a red or pink T-shirt, and a white male about 5ft 11in tall who was wearing a purple hooded top. Both spoke with York accents.

Detectives believe they tried to take the victim鈥檚 personal belongings and assault him.

The free trail of fairy houses along the River Foss in Heworth is described on its website as a "magical hidden world" through an "enchanted woodland."

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police.
