A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a passenger died in a crash in Rotherham.
Officers were called at about 16:05 BST on Sunday to a collision on Morthen Road at the junction with Moat Lane in Wickersley.
A silver Land Rover Discovery and a silver Subaru Forester left the road, police said, with a 20-year-old Land Rover passenger declared dead at the scene.
A 21-year-old man was held by police and remains in custody, South Yorkshire Police said.
The driver and three passengers of the Subaru Forester fled the scene on foot.
The force appealed for any witnesses, or motorists who were in the area at the time and have dashcam footage, to get in contact.
