Overnight closures to fix worsening road surface

Part of a major road in Staffordshire is due to close overnight for resurfacing work due to deterioration of the carriageway, according to National Highways.
The A5 Gailey Island will be shut overnight between 20:00 BST and 06:00, from 5-8 August.
Workers will lay a high-friction material on the road surface and replace markings and studs.
Once finished, the work will provide a smoother surface and safer road, National Highways added.
There will be access for emergency vehicles during the closures, as well as a .
A National Highways spokesperson commented: 鈥淚鈥檇 like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption to those living close to the work.鈥
鈥淲e鈥檒l make every effort to carefully manage noise levels and additional lighting to minimise the impact.鈥
They added that the planned work may change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
