A woman from West Yorkshire who tried to kill three children has been jailed for more than 10 years.

A four-year-old girl, a two-year-old boy and a three-month-old baby boy were found with serious stab injuries at a house in Walpole Road, Huddersfield, in February 2023.

The woman pleaded guilty to three counts of attempted murder at Leeds Crown Court last August.

She was jailed for 10 years and eight months at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday.

The woman will be remanded in hospital until she is well enough to be transferred to a prison after the judge in the case, Mrs Justice Christina Lambert, imposed a hybrid order under Section 45A of the Mental Health Act.

Her solicitor, Abdul Iqbal KC, said his client had been "labouring under mental health problems when she committed these acts", although she was deemed fit to plead following a psychiatric evaluation.

She was sentenced to 10 months and eight months for each offence, to be served concurrently.
