A 23-year-old man has admitted throwing a corrosive substance on another man with the intent to maim him.

Jivan Dean, of no fixed abode, was arrested after a manhunt following the attack on 14 August at Tipi Valley, near Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire.

Dean appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Wednesday and admitted throwing a corrosive substance - sodium hydroxide - with the intent to burn, maim, disfigure or disable his victim, Raven Riley.

He also admitted a charge of grievous bodily harm with intent against Mr Riley, who spent a few days in hospital after the incident.

Dean was remanded into custody and the case was adjourned until 22 October for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.
