Ex-teacher accused of sex abuse denies offences in South Africa
A man accused of dozens of sexual abuse charges in Scotland has pleaded not guilty to similar charges at a trial in South Africa.
Iain Wares, 84, was arrested in January last year in Cape Town after a man came forward alleging he was inappropriately touched by his former teacher whilst a student in Cape Town in the 1980s.
Mr Wares denies all the allegations.
The retired teacher - who taught at Edinburgh Academy and Fettes College - is also facing charges in Scotland, which he also denies.
A decision from South Africa on whether to extradite Mr Wares was due by Easter of this year, following a two-day hearing, but the judgement will come later.
