A distinctive cross used by a church during processions has been stolen.
Nottinghamshire Police said the metallic cross was taken from St Mary's Church in Cuckney between 09:00 and 20:00 BST on Thursday.
The cross was removed from its wooden staff by thieves who entered the church, officers said.
Anyone who has information on the theft or encounters the cross has been urged to contact the force.
PC Lisa Hopkin said: "We are determined to reunite it with the church and wider community, and ask anyone with information to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
