Police have spent the day at the scene of a large unlicensed music event (UME) at a disused mushroom factory.

Suffolk Constabulary said it was called to Stanton, between Diss and Bury St Edmunds, at about 20:50 BST on Saturday to "reports of a large gathering of people".

Up to 300 cars attended the event and officers closed nearby roads to prevent further people attending, the force added.

Footage posted on social media appeared to show hundreds of people inside a factory unit, some dressed in Halloween costumes.

A police spokesperson said: "In the interests of public safety, police officer safety and the relatively remote location of the gathering, police took the decision to monitor the UME overnight and gather evidence and intelligence.

"Officers remain on scene... as the attendees disperse."
