A man has been arrested after a woman died in a crash near an industrial estate in East Sussex.

Emergency services were called to Davigdor Road, Hove, at about 00:20 BST on Thursday following a report that a person had been hit by a car.

A woman in her 40s was pronounced dead at the scene and her next of kin have been informed, police said.

A 28-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by driving a vehicle without insurance or a driving licence.

He has since been released on bail while inquiries continue.

Davigdor Road has since re-opened following an earlier road closure.

Anyone with information about the crash, which happened near the Peacock Industrial Estate, is urged to contact police.
