A major search operation for a woman who went missing during a dive off the Dorset coast has been stood down.

The diver, who had been in the sea close to Old Harry Rocks near Swanage, was reported missing on Tuesday at about 18:00 BST.

Coastguard helicopters, a plane, coastguard teams and RNLI lifeboats were involved in the search.

The Maritime & Coastguard Agency said it was called off on Wednesday at 18:00 pending any further information.

The MCA said the missing diver is aged over 18.

Dorset Police said its officers would be carrying out searches to locate the diver in the Swanage area.
