A man in his 20s has been shot in the leg in what police have described as a brutal attack in Ballymoney, County Antrim.

Four masked men armed with weapons, including a gun, forced their way into a property in Carnany Drive shortly after 12:10 BST on Tuesday, the police have said.

鈥淓veryone has the right to live their life free from the threat of violence and this brutal attack is a clear violation of the victim's human rights," the police said.

鈥淭here is no justification for this and those responsible are not defenders of their communities - they are criminals who prey on vulnerable people," they added.

The police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
