Kirklees Council election results: No overall control
Labour has lost overall control of Kirklees Council, with no party able to command a majority.
The party lost five seats, including that of former long-serving leader Shabbir Pandor.
A series of victories for independent candidates, as well as for the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party has left the council hung, as it was previously between 2021 and 2022.
One successful independent candidate said cuts to local services by the Labour administration, as well as the national leadership's stance on Gaza, had resulted in voters rejecting the party.
Tanisha Bramwell told 大象传媒 Radio Leeds: "We've lost so many services and local people have been affected are feeling that hit.
"Labour has always had the Muslim vote, but unfortunately is that when the community came knocking and said 'advocate for us', Labour and the Conservatives didn't."
