Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a teenager was stabbed in the street.
The attack took place this afternoon on Market Street in Wigan, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
It said a 19-year-old had been taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
The two men, aged 19 and 30, remain in custody for questioning.
'Isolated incident'
GMP also said a knife had been recovered.
Insp Sam Davies said: 鈥淥fficers responded to the incident immediately and pursued the offenders.
"Both suspects remain in our custody and a knife has been recovered.
"Another of our officers provided first aid to the victim, who has been taken to hospital for treatment.
"Whilst the incident will undoubtedly cause concern, I want to highlight the positive response provided by police and reassure the public that we treat incidents of this nature extremely seriously."
The inspector added it appeared to be an isolated incident and there was no indication there was a wider risk to the community.
GMP said there would be an increased police presence in the area to reassure the public.
