A man suspected of stealing 拢85,000 from a Nottingham casino has been arrested while trying to leave the country.

Police launched an investigation after the cash was found to be missing from a safe at Alea Casino, in Upper Parliament Street, on 24 June.

A 39-year-old man was detained by Border Force officials at Belfast International Airport on 16 July as he tried to board a plane to Turkey.

He was arrested on suspicion of theft and subsequently bailed on condition of surrendering his passport, officers said.

PC Callum Thomas-Shaw said: 鈥淭hefts of this nature can have a really serious impact on businesses, and we will always vigorously investigate such incidents.

鈥淧art of that work is focused on tracking down suspects, and we are grateful to Border Force officers for their assistance in apprehending the suspect."
