Police have appealed for witnesses after a cyclist was taken to hospital following a crash involving a car on a road in the south of the Isle of Man.

The incident happened on Braaid Road between the Clannagh Road crossroads and the St Marks crossroads at about 11:55 BST on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for the Isle of Man Constabulary said the female cyclist, who was visiting the island from the UK, was "suspected to not have life threatening injuries", but no further details were released.

She said officers would like to speak to a person driving a "small red car" in the area at the time, who may have been overtaken by a white coloured saloon.

"We believe they may be a key witness to the collision but did not stop at the scene," she said.

The driver of the car involved in the crash was assisting the force with enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident, she added.

Anyone else who witnessed the collision but has not yet spoken to officers has also been urged to contact the force.
