Road reopens while Grade II bridge repairs continue

A road that closed to allow crucial repairs to a Grade II listed iron bridge has reopened.
Kings Weston Road, in Bristol, closed on 15 January while work continued on the Kingsweston Iron Bridge after a series of strikes by trucks made it unsafe.
The road reopened on Wednesday at about 10:00 BST, while the bridge is expected to reopen to pedestrians in July.
The cast iron bridge, built in around 1800, spans Kings Weston Road and links Blaise Castle estate to Kingsweston Fields but closed in 2015 for repairs.
The structure has been raised by 3ft 3in (1m)
For nine years the bridge was secured and propped up by scaffolding.
The fully repaired and restored bridge has been raised 3ft 3in (1m) higher and steps are set to be installed at either end of the structure.
The £1.1m restoration project was funded by Bristol City Council's Highway Infrastructure Bridge Investments fund.
